Birth Control Update: New Methods, New Lessons
It is critical for teens to learn how to choose and use effective methods of birth control to prevent unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, whether or not they are currently having intercourse. Misinformation and misconceptions can contribute to a teen’s failure to protect himself or herself. Helping young people to recognize the pros and cons of various methods will enable them to make informed choices about their contraceptive options now and in the future.
The revised New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in Comprehensive Health and Physical Education requires teaching about contraception beginning in the 8th grade. This workshop will help participants learn interactive teaching strategies based on accurate, updated information about contraception and emergency contraception.
