Teaching about Abortion:
Navigating Controversial Terrain with Teens

Although it is a legal and frequent medical procedure, abortion is still one of
the most controversial issues and often makes professionals nervous about if
and how to talk about it in the classroom. Students often have questions and
have heard common myths about the procedure, the reasons why women choose
abortion, the laws regarding parental consent or notification and involvement of the father.

This workshop will clarify medical questions, review state and national laws and provide the opportunity for participants to clarify their own beliefs and receive a medically-accurate update. Participants will gain the knowledge to answer questions factually and the increased confidence to address abortion as the topic arises with their students.
