"I would like to thank your organization for your fine contribution to teen health and sex education materials. The articles are wonderful. My students were able to relate to them and participate in meaningful discussion and activities about them. I recommend Sexetc.org to all of my students, and they have found it to be quite helpful."

I teach a health and human sexuality class in an all-girl's independent high school. I had a really difficult time discussing the topics of intimacy and sex. Students equated intimacy and sex with sexual intercourse. In one class, my students were very defensive about their thoughts of what sex is and were not open to other interpretations of the definition. I’m not intent on changing their minds, but want them to be open to different interpretations of what sexual behavior entails and what definitions we are going to use as a class. What's the bext way to go about encouraging them to consider other definitions?
