Teaching about Family Life in Grades 3-4

This workshop for 3rd-and 4th-grade teachers provides strategies for teaching about family life education with young children, techniques for answering questions typically asked by children and information on normal childhood sexual development. The workshop will include the following topics: teaching about family diversity, teaching about gender role stereotypes, teaching about friendships and handling teachable moments. Aligned with the revised New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in Comprehensive Health and Physical Education, this workshop will model effective lessons to help participants become more comfortable and confident when teaching family life education.
